From time to time, it's good to step back and look at your life. It's always good to examine where you are spiritually and obey the command to "make your calling and election sure." Assurance seems to be a hot topic of conversations these days and I think it's an important one.
We need to step back and focus on the gospel. Our gaze is always shifting from the gospel, no matter how often we are encountering it. Why doesn't it stay with me! Why do I have to keep preaching the gospel to myself? Why am I not seeing fruit in my life and real spiritual growth? I think these are all good questions and we need the gospel to answer them.
Jesus Christ died. His death actually accomplished something. When Jesus died, Satan, sin, and death also died with him. He conquered these things and their power was eternally shattered and limited. It's only a matter of time before Satan, sin, and death will be gone completely! In the same way that sin is loosing it's grip on our lives, every time we hear and receive the good news of the gospel, we are actually growing closer and closer to holiness! We are growing in our relationship with the Lord and there is no need to worry! Continue to go back to the cross of Jesus Christ and trust him! He is worthy to be honored and trusted and He is always there for us. Our assurance of salvation is rooted in our assurance and confidence in the death, burial, resurrection of Jesus Christ AND the finished work he accomplished on the cross on our behalf. His death actually accomplished your salvation, so lets rest in his finished work done on our behalf and joyfully obey him in all facets of our lives.
